Department of Medicine has always been considered as the backbone of any Medical School or any health care facility. And I can proudly say that, our medicine department at Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre is highly committed & capable in providing efficient and quality medical services to all the needy patients. Our department is one of the largest department in the medical college , consisting of many senior & experienced faculty teachers belonging to the core specialty of medicine and also  many highly qualified ,young and enthusiastic faculty teachers belonging to various sub specialties like Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Critical care & Rheumatology. Thus, our department not only provides primary & secondary medical services but also super specialty services to a large population of Nashik district at affordable price. We have a Medical intensive care unit and a cardiac care unit for critically ill patients. We have an efficiently running Cardiac Catheterization lab providing angiography & angioplasty facilities. We have an Artificial Kidney Dialysis unit, providing maintenance haemodialysis to the CKD patients at affordable rate and temporary dialysis to the AKI patients. We also have facility of upper & lower GI scopies with various interventional procedures. We also provide EEG, EMG/ NCV facilities for neurological cases. We have very successfully running post graduate programme for more than ten years, with five post graduate seats per year. Post graduate students are rotated through various subspecialties like cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology, neurology & critical care as well as allied branches of medicine like Respiratory Medicine, Dermatology, Psychiatry. This gives them good exposure and hands on training in most of the subspecialties of medicine. Postgraduate students are given various research topics as part of their thesis and they carry out research under the guidance of their PG teachers. The faculty teachers also take part in clinical trials as principal investigators. The post graduate students are also encouraged and given guidance to write case reports of the unusual or rare cases which they see during their tenure and to send them for publication. Postgraduate students are also encouraged to take part in various competitions & quiz programmes. Apart from academics, we encourage our students to take part in extracurricular activities and cultural programmes. We have disciplined, at the same time cordial working atmosphere in our department and all the residents and faculty teachers work as a team giving their best in patient care & also academics.
