Department of Physiology is one of the very important building blocks in the MBBS program for understanding body function in health and disease. Department focuses on developing appropriate acumen toward preparation of first MBBS student to become Indian medical graduate as desired by the Medical Council of India as per Graduate Medical Education Regulations -2019. Competency-Based Medical Education(CBME) has been successfully implemented with Curriculum Implementation Support Program(CISP) training of all faculty immediately followed by teaching to undergraduates as per new CBME curriculum involving 8 Self Directed learning (SDL) session, 6 Early Clinical Exposure sessions (ECE), DOAP session along with 2 field visits since its implementation from 1st August 2019.
All 6 faculties are trained in medical education (Basic course in MET) and 4 faculties have completed the Advanced course in medical education (ACME). Apart from academic, research and other work at departmental and institutional level, our faculty are also active in various academic and research activities of our affiliated university, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. Since our faculty members are well experienced and updated in recent advances in medical education technology, as per national as well as global standards, they are co-opted members of MCI regional centre of MET at MUHS. They also actively participate as resource faculty in Revised Basic Course Workshop, Curriculum Implementation Support Program, Basic & Advanced research methodology workshop, paper setting & moderation & newer methods of assessment workshop.
To ensure student centric learning system, our department is at the forefront in research as the backbone of any medical institution through successfully guiding UG students for ICMR funded research & participation in yearly held MUHS “Avishkar” research competition also consistently won awards. For individual research faculty is focused on their own research projects. We have three extramurally funded projects, Long Term Research Grant(LTRG) from MUHS and industry sponsored clinical trials are going on.
