Department of Orthopaedics of Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College, Hospital and Research center was established in year 1989.
With 150 Undergraduate Students (UG) coming in every year we conduct Orthopaedics lectures (35 hours), Self-Directed Learning (SDL-15) hours), Small Group Discussion (SGD-45) and bedside clinics (2 weeks.) for the UG students. We start surgical teaching as early as the third term through to the ninth term with view to lay a base for the development of good clinical acumen in the subject of Orthopaedics by the end of their MBBS Course. To evaluate their progress, we regularly conduct internal assessment exams and University examinations (per the MUHS protocols.)
Orthopedics had 6 MS post graduate teaching course till 2019, which is converted to 9 MS ortho seats from 2021. We have internal assessments of these students every 6 monthly in form of theory and practical examinations. We have a rich working culture with all sub-specialty teaching staff with us including, Arthroplasty, Arthroscopy and Pediatric Orthopedics.
Our UG & PG is recognized by MCI and affiliated to MUHS. Orthopedics is at apex of various references for major and complicated cases and we provide facilities at reasonable cost and at various government aided schemes.
